Book introduction
“Insights from a stem cell researcher encompassing science, medicine, and spirituality!”
Stem cells save the cells of the body, and love revives existence itself!
Solving aging and pain through science and spirituality “Are aging and pain really the inevitable fate of humans?” Author Dr. Ra Jeong-chan begins this book by asking fundamental questions about ‘aging, pain, recovery, and regeneration of our bodies’ by combining research and clinical experience accumulated in the field of cutting-edge science called stem cell medicine, as well as the language of the Bible and spirituality. This book is not simply a medical information book, a health secret book, or a testimony of faith that delivers religious comfort. The author is both a scientist and a pastor, and deals with both science and faith. It calmly explains how the concepts of creation order and restoration mentioned in the Bible are revealed in modern science, especially in our bodies through the medium of stem cells. So, this book is a humanities book that connects science and religion, a science book that explains the role of stem cells, and a health book that seriously asks about aging and disease. It also deals with the most important issues of body and mind for humans, and contains a stem cell researcher's confession of faith on how to live.
Our bodies already contain the order of recovery. For 25 years, the author has been focusing on adult stem cell research that can protect human ethics and dignity. We devoted ourselves to research to uncover the role that stem cells play in our bodies, and through encountering numerous clinical cases and experiences of people recovering their lives through stem cell treatment, we realize the deep love that God has prepared for humans. This book, based on insights gained from the field of stem cell medicine, makes you think about ‘why recovery is possible’ and ‘in what order does recovery occur?’ without showing off the excellence of stem cell treatment technology. And it guides readers through the language of the Bible and the wisdom of middle and old age living healthy. It says that the body is not something that needs to be fixed, but is a being that already contains the order of restoration, and it shows that spirituality is not a faith that escapes reality, but a power that revives the body and life. In particular, through the concept of ‘stem cell regenerative medicine,’ this book presents the perspective that humans are not beings who own or dominate life, but rather care for it as stewards and help it recover. At the same time, it asks important questions about the ethics of science and technology, the direction of medical care, and human dignity.
book review
Stem cells are the fundamental ability of our body. The author explains the principle of how stem cells work in the human body through the concept of R4 (Regeneration, Rejuvenation, Revitalization, Recreation) and the 4H (Homing, Homeostasis, Healing, Helper) by linking it to spirituality. This tells us how stem cells work toward recovery in the human body, life, and spirituality. This is briefly explained as follows. R4 Regeneration (creating healthy cells again): Regeneration, as revealed by stem cell research, does not mean immediate change or restoration of appearance. Rather than creating and attaching something completely new, it refers to the process of restoring internal order so that life functions that already exist but have been suspended for a long time can function again. Rejuvenation (Rejuvenation of the body): It explains the principle of reversing the age of cells and returning body functions to their prime state, beyond simply being disease-free. Revitalization: It supplies energy to the entire body and improves blood flow, enabling a lively life by escaping chronic fatigue and lethargy. Recreation (recovery to a complete body): It deals with a regenerative healing process that re-establishes the overall balance of the body, rather than partial repair.
4H Homing (Visiting the painful area): The ‘homing effect’, in which stem cells visit the inflamed area on their own, reflects God’s love for finding the lost lamb. Homeostasis (maintaining normality at all times): Homeostasis, which seeks to maintain body temperature and immunity despite changes in the external environment, is an order that seeks to remain centered even in spiritual turmoil. Healing (healing wounds and pain): The process of washing away wounds and growing new skin coincides with the process of spiritual recovery, washing away sins and being born again. Helper (helps restore full health): Stem cells help other cells grow without revealing themselves. This symbolizes the ‘Comforter’ work of the Holy Spirit, who silently helps us by our side.
The regeneration of the body and the restoration of life are with us. A woman who overcame sudden hearing loss and the door to life was opened again, a businessman who broke the shackles of Parkinson's disease and regained his passion, a pharmacist who regained his confidence and youth lost due to Parkinson's disease through stem cell treatment, a painter who put down his brush due to rheumatic pain and then picked up the brush again to paint, a woman who went through a vicious cycle of pain due to systemic lupus erythematosus and regained her daily life, A female professor who overcame atopy and infertility, a young man who lost his eyesight due to brain damage after a car accident but was able to see again... . This book features stories of people who have regenerated their bodies and restored their lives through actual stem cell treatment. Each disease is different, but they all tell of the experience of finding hope at the end of despair. In addition, the author gives various examples of characters in the Bible and tells the story of the transformation of their lives when they obeyed God's call, followed the love of Jesus, and believed in the care of the Holy Spirit, along with Bible verses. In the end, ‘love’ is at the center of recovery. The end of the book talks about ‘love’ as the starting point of all recovery. It is emphasized that the recovery of cells, the recovery of the body, the recovery of relationships, and the recovery of life are ultimately a matter of attitude toward others and oneself. This book does not promise miracles or speak of instant healing. Instead, I ask the reader: "No matter how great a helper stem cells are, in order for our bodies to not age and get sick, the way we live must ultimately change. Stem cells only create an environment, and I must choose what kind of life I will live in that environment. In the end, it is my responsibility to change my lifestyle habits, maintain a clean diet, breathe clean air, move my body, get enough rest, reduce anger and greed, and try to restore relationships. Stem cells are there to help make this choice effective. However, it does not make that choice for you” (page 129). The appendix contains summaries of 17 papers conducted by the author and published in international academic journals. Data proving the safety and effectiveness of adult stem cells for Alzheimer's (dementia), autism, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis support the content of this book as verified science.

Appendix _ Summary of Dr. Jeong-Chan Ra’s thesis Scientific basis of stem cell treatment and record of clinical conversion
into the book
As I study stem cells, I see this more and more clearly. The body and soul do not age separately. We grow old together and recover together. How can I organize my life without being tied to a long hospital bed like Jacob? How can I end my life peacefully in meekness like Isaac? This book does not promise miracles. He doesn't even declare complete recovery. I just want to ask. Before we take aging for granted, before we resign ourselves to pain as fate, couldn’t we choose again?_18p
When aging and disease are added, people begin to feel ‘sick.’ However, most diseases do not appear suddenly. High blood pressure, diabetes, and arthritis grow quietly within the body over a long period of time. Pain is the last sound of the body that is finally revealed after all the processes have accumulated. Pain is not a declaration that the body is broken, but rather a signal that the body has not given up yet._21-22p
‘Stem cell regenerative medicine’ is not a technology that makes a person younger. Medicine does not end with curing some of the diseased parts. The essence is medicine that restores humanity back to God's providence of creation. Now we must move toward the recovery of spirituality that allows us to feel and accept the Creator’s love. A world that does not age or get sick does not come about through the victory of technology. That world begins to be experienced only when we re-enter the order of love._28p
Stem cells emerge at the point of this signaling breakdown. Stem cells detect where damage has occurred and under what circumstances recovery has stopped, and then send a signal that it is okay to start again at that location. In other words, stem cells are not entities that achieve regeneration alone, but are coordinators and conductors that make the entire body cooperate again._35p
After a year, Chloe's hearing returned to normal, and from then on, Chloe's life began to expand not only with sound but also with a wider range of choices. At this point Chloe said: “At that time, rather than hearing a sound again, I felt like my life was opening up again.”_39-40p.
The signals sent by stem cells help vascular endothelial function, create a recovery-oriented microvascular environment, and contribute to improving the balance of oxygen, nutrient supply, and waste removal. As a result, the body spends the day in a less heavy state rather than suddenly gaining strength, and changes in a way that the next day is not scary even if you move a lot. This is the scientific reality of revitalization, which occurs when the cost of whole body metabolism goes down. In this respect, the role of stem cells is understood as creating conditions that can lower the cost._65p
Recreation is the final stage of recovery but also a new beginning. Even after reviving, rejuvenating, and giving life, God does not leave that life as is. Rather, He molds us into a new order and a new direction so that our lives do not collapse again and we do not return to our previous speed and desires. This is the love that is created anew, and the path to maturity required after recovery._79p
The most important thing in stem cell treatment is not where to put it, but where the cells go on their own. We call this ability homing. It may sound like a difficult word, but its meaning is simple. Stem cells have the ‘ability to visit painful areas on their own.’_90p
When stem cells are administered intravenously, the cells first circulate throughout the body along blood vessels. At this time, many people are worried. “Then aren’t the cells scattered everywhere?” But in reality this is not the case. Stem cells don't go anywhere. It's as if we look in the direction of smoke and say, "There's a fire over there." Just as you naturally turn your head, the stem cells move toward the place in your body that sent the signal, “This is the most important place.” Then, it arrives at the area and stays for a while to help with recovery. This is homing._91p
The reason I choose homeostasis as the most important role of stem cells is because stem cells do not just repair a single area, but also provide signals to help the body move towards maintaining balance again. So how do stem cells help homeostasis? A scientific explanation is needed here, but there is no need to make it difficult. The most important thing stem cells do is not to create new flesh, but to calm the body's turmoil and ‘return it to a state where recovery is possible.’_101-102p
Today, we too may be in the same reality as the stomach of each fish. But you must remember. The fact is that that place is not outside the grace of God. If we go beyond the old and sick world and put our focus back on God's grace, we can be thankful even when we are trapped in the belly of a fish. And that gratitude becomes the deepest and most powerful prayer that leads us back to safe land._112p
You can't say you're healed just because you're not sick. Just because the pain disappears does not mean healing is complete, and just because the symptoms subside does not mean aging has stopped. If the pain is gone but the resilience is not restored, and the wounds are covered but the organizational order is still broken, it is not true healing, but just a delayed collapse._117p
“Mom, I can see more clearly.” According to Kang-soo, he felt that he could see objects clearly more often and for longer than before, and the visual afterimages that caused inconvenience in his daily life became blurred. He also said that his legs and entire body, which had always felt cold, felt warmer. In particular, it was reported that pain throughout the body was significantly reduced, making it possible to live a more comfortable and enjoyable life than before._123p
Youth in this book does not simply mean the absence of disease or pain. Youth is a state in which the power to recover is alive, in other words, a state in which the ability to bounce back is maintained even when shaken. Young people are not those who do not fall, but those who believe that they can stand up again even if they fall, and actually can stand up. At the center of this resilience is always love._146p
A person who abides in the love of Jesus will not easily break down even if his body becomes weak. Even as we get older, we do not give up on life, and even if we get sick, we still expect recovery. This expectation is the signal of life, and when this signal does not go out, humans maintain the direction of life until the end, even in the face of old age and pain. Stem cells are a tool that helps this love operate within the body, and the love of Jesus is the source that surrounds the entire life so that the tool can operate._154p
When discussing a life that does not age or get sick, mentioning only the body first is only half the story. Recovery will not last long if you do not examine how your mind has been living, what you have been holding on to, what you have been living for, what you have been holding on to, and why you have always been nervous. This is because the body always projects the state of the mind._164p
